I met a guy in a coffee shop yesterday and left with only his name. Based on our conversation, I knew he was an entrepreneur and that he probably knew some things that I could learn from.
Later, I looked him up and found that he had actually built numerous tech startups and exited three for a total I'm estimating to be north of $500 million.
This was a guy I wanted to know better.
The problem was that all I had was his name. No email address.
How do you reach out to someone if you don't have any contact info for that person?
That's what I answer in this post, and that's exactly how I found that guy's email address and was able to reconnect with him.
The very next day, I was with him again back at the same coffee, and we were able to talk a little bit more.
This is how you network:
- plant seeds.
- give them time to grow at a natural pace.
- focus on the long-term.
It starts with knowing how to find anyone's email address.
